Business Development Manager - Microsoft, (Pontianak, West Kalimantan)

To meet this objective, the Business Development, Venture and Strategy team is tasked to drive strategic partnerships and transactions to accelerate growth for Microsoft and its customers. We work with external partners around the world, ranging from startups to large-scale enterprises, to identify areas of collaboration, drive innovation, and unlock shared value.

This is a unique opportunity for a bold, customer oriented, strategic thinker to help identifying, forming and executing innovative and strategic opportunities with customers/partners. The primary focus market for this role is Indonesia with the rest of APAC as secondary markets.

Business Development Manager

The Business Development Manager is leading and orchestrating One Microsoft team efforts to drive ambitious growth and wins, with market-making partnership initiative spanning Digital natives, Telcos, Conglomerates and MSMEs. This role is expected to establish complex and strategic partnerships to bring together Microsoft, local technology expertise and the most dominant market players in selected industries such as Financial Services, Telco, Retail, Healthcare, Energy and Agriculture.

The role requires engagements with Founders and CxOs of leading organisations and collaborate closely with the internal Business Development Organisation, Engineering, Sales and Marketing organization, Finance and Legal, in formulating strategic partnership structuring, solution innovation and GTM activities.

Responsibilities

Customer and Partner Focus- be the market expert.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to advise and drive complex (e.g., large, high impact) deals with customers and partners; advises partners and decision makers on the industry and company and provides industry expertise internally and externally.
  • Drives business initiatives and contributes to customer's strategy discussions; drive influence around the product roadmap, prioritization, and proactively guide customer and partner decision making.

Partnership Strategy

  • Develop in-market growth strategy with key customers/partners based on company, partner, and/or customer needs for a particular product/industry. Drives support and action by influencing internal stakeholders and partners and promoting the value of opportunities.
  • Positions the Microsoft value proposition versus competitors and works with stakeholders to influence product roadmap to meet customer needs. Provides insight on industry and/or competitive trends and drives action based on insights.
  • Leverages relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders to identify and validate unique opportunities that cross business areas or target high-priority gaps across technology, product and industries.

Negotiation

  • Represents Microsoft in key customer and partner interactions and defines the deal structure for scalable and durable solutions to complex business opportunities. Provides breakthrough ideas and collaborates to close strategic or high-impact opportunities in order to scale the business (e.g., cross-company, cross-product deals).

Deal Management/Governance

  • Develop and implement plans for managing deals with workback schedules, key milestones, communications, and reporting.
  • Ensure successful execution of deals. Collaborates with customers, partners, and Microsoft colleagues to develop post-deal governance and oversee the creation and implementation of execution plans.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

To be successful in this highly entrepreneurial role, it will require core competencies as follows:

  • Vision and Strategic thinking to understand and articulate an opportunity and how to structure a deal to unlock the value hidden in the opportunity.
  • Creative problem solving in real time and adapting the deal to adjust to constraints from market, product teams or partner.
  • Strong analytical skills to understand and identify market trends and principal players.
  • Passion and grit to see a deal through. Navigating through ambiguity.
  • Influence to cause things to happen both inside and outside the organization. A combination of leadership, articulation and drive.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Liberal Arts, Sciences, or related field AND 10+ years relevant work experience (e.g., investment banking, consulting, finance, marketing, corporate strategy, sales, venture capital, legal, business development, product management, project management, software development, or related field)
  • OR equivalent experience; MBA desired.
  • 8+ years’ experience in the technology industry OR in a technical role (e.g., IT, Engineering).
